While it feels like summer just started, most of us are planning for back to school or grabbing our early Halloween decorations. However, there are some who are still waiting to go on a beach trip.

If you’re headed to the beach in August, you might be looking to pack a few books to enjoy while soaking up some sun. You might want something to read while sitting by the pool or just enjoying some quiet time while in your room.

Regardless of what you’re planning to do, having a book by your side is the screen-free time you need. There is something about a lack of screens on vacation that feels especially relaxing.

Thankfully since we love to read here on The Tasty Screen, we’re sharing 4 books releasing in August 2025 to add to your beach bag. There is small disclaimer that we haven’t read all of these books since they’re not released yet but let’s talk books.

These 4 books are great beach reads for August 2025.

Since we’re talking beach reads, I did want to include a romance on here and one I absolutely adore is Learn My Lesson by Katee Robert. This is book 2 in Robert’s Wicked Villains series which is being republished by Sourcebooks. If you haven’t read this series, you’re in for a real treat. These books follows classic fairytales remixed as kinky dark romances. Learn My Lesson is throple between Meg, Hades and Hercules. Releasing on August 5th, you’re sure to get even hotter, reading this on the beach.

Another August release on our radar is Disney Adults: Exploring (And Falling in Love With) a Magical Substance by AJ Wolfe. For my fellow non-fiction fans, this one sounds like it’s going to be an extremely divisive read. This book is going to tackle all the good and bad sides of Disney Adults along with sharing her own take as an owner of The Disney Food Blog.

Moving to next release, Samantha Downing’s Too Old For This is being released on August 12th. This is Downing’s next thriller and it follows Lottie who is a former serial killer. Of course, her past comes back to haunt her and the story goes from there. Sounds like it’s going to be juicy and fun, making it the perfect read to pick up if you’re lounging by the pool.

Last but not least, the final August release on our radar is The Dead Husband Cookbook by Danielle Valentine. This book follows Maria, a famous chef whose husband dies and how years later, she’s ready to share her story in a memoir written by a young writer. As you might guess, Thea, the young writer is invited to Maria’s house and from there, things start to devolve. It sounds like it’s going to be a juicy yet impactful read similar to Valentine’s other works. This title releases on August 5th.

Ultimately, these are just some of the August releases we’d be adding to our beach bag this year. Regardless of what you’re in the mood for, there are plenty of great books publishing monthly so be sure to check out your local library or favorite bookstore for more.
