If there’s one thing we love here at The Tasty Screen, it’s a romance with a dog in it. That’s why we had to feature two new releases from July which were Finding Mr. July and now, Pugs and Kisses.

While Pugs and Kisses isn’t a sequel to Pardon My Frenchie, it’s set in the same world. You don’t have to read Pardon My Frenchie before picking this one up but it will give you a bit more context.

If anything, it speaks to Farrah Rochon’s talents that she’s written so many books in such a wide array of genres. She writes young adult stories and adult romances, giving us a little bit of everything.

However, we’re here to talk about Pugs and Kisses so I’d like to thank Forever for giving me an ARC so I can share my thoughts with all of you.

Pugs and Kisses is a doggone great romance.

The story begins with Evie, coming home to find her fiance, sleeping with someone else and from there, it feels like a massive wake-up call. Not only does she decide to quit her job but she also goes to her local animal shelter.

While there, she finds out the shelter is to be sold and that there is nothing that can be done. Of course, she also ends up meeting Bryson again who is her former flame. The two had a short fling in school before he left and she went back to her boyfriend.

As with Farrah Rochon’s other books, this book does focus a lot on the romance and this is such a great one. Bryson and Evie can’t seem to ignore their attraction to each other. While Evie is dead-set on taking it slow, things don’t exactly start like that and it ends up being a large part of the story’s conflict.

However, the biggest conflict is figuring out how the two can save the animal shelter. It’s so interesting to see the different ideas the two have and what they’re able to do when working together. Plus there were so many cute dogs in the book that it’ll just make you want to go snuggle some puppies or take your furry friend for a walk.

If you’re looking for a cute read with two incredible leads and Black love, then Pugs and Kisses is for you.
