Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) has definitely not been smooth sailing for the ladies. In fact, there is no denying that there has been a lot of tension among the housewives, including threats, shady comments, divorce drama and even a former housewife getting booted for bad behavior. So of course, episode 7 was all about a cast trip to Nashville.
It should be noted that the RHOA cast trip to Nashville was meant to be a celebration of Porsha and her birthday. And while much of the episode was more of the lead up to the trip, we did get to see the beginning of this vacation to Nashville. Although things started off on a more peaceful note, it didn’t take long for things to shift, as Porsha learned that Drew was heading to the city to join them, even though she hadn’t been invited by the actual host of the trip.
We are not surprised that Angela asked Drew to come on the trip as her plus one. Personally, I feel like Bravo would have found a way to get Drew to Nashville one way or the other. But at the same time, the way it was done definitely helped to add to the drama that has already been brewing among the ladies.
Honestly, this has been a rough season of RHOA. While I don’t think it has been boring, I do think it is missing the spark of some of the earlier seasons. Shamea, Kelli and Angela have actually been really great additions to the peach squad, but even with them joining the mix, it feels like the storylines are weak and not giving us the fire we used to see when we had Nene, Cynthia, Marlo and Sheree as our housewives. (We love seeing Cynthia, but her being a friend of the housewives doesn’t feel right.)
We still have another episode with the cast in Nashville, so we expect even more drama and fighting to come. Here’s hoping that whenever Phaedra returns to the show she helps to shake things up in a way that actually brings the ladies together, even with the drama. Because at this rate, Season 16 is shaping up to be more drama than anything else.
