Seaon 4 of Bridgerton may have just ended, but that doesn’t mean the news of the show has just dried up. Netflix and the Bridgerton social media accounts have announced the biggest news they possible could: news about season 5. What could they possibly be announcing already?

While we don’t have a release date yet, we do know that season 5 is in production and who the leading couple is going to be. But who is it? Many fans were hoping for Eloise, but while that doesn’t seem to be the case,the news is even better. The next featured couple is going to be Francesca Bridgerton and Michaela Stirling!

While we have seen queer couples (most recently with Benedict being bisexual in the latest season) on Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte before, we have not seen a sapphic couple. Well, that is about to change, and thank goodness.

Fans have been hoping that the change for Michaela’s character (the character was a man in the book) meant a sapphic relationship for Francesca, scenes in the season 4 and this announcement have now confirmed it.

How will the Bridgerton family respond to this relationship? Who knows, but I can’t wait to see how they write this relationship.

We, unfortunately, don’t have a release date yet for this season, but if it’s anything like the last one or…the one before that, we will likely be waiting two years. I greatly hope we don’t have to wait that long because…what takes that long?? but only time will tell.

With this new featured couple announcement, we can only guess that this means Eloise’s romance isn’t until season 6. Would I love her to also have a female love interest? Absolutely. I was hoping for an Eloise and Penelope romance. But I don’t know if we are that lucky.
