Survivor 50 is a love letter to the fans, which means that the fans have been having a big impact on the direction of this season. And one mega fan made their presence known on episode 4, “Knife to the Heart.” That’s because Zac Brown himself was a massive part of the reward for winning the immunity challenge.

The first team to win immunity would get the opportunity to enjoy a meal that was not only cooked by Zac, but actually caught by him, as he planned to do some spear fishing in order to provide for the winners. While the winning tribe got to enjoy some cold drinks and a filling meal, the rest of their reward was actually a private performance from the singer, including a new song.

So which tribe actually won this amazing challenge reward and got to spend time with Zac Brown? That would be the Kalo tribe. They got the chance to kick back, chat with Zac, and experience a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience.

This left the Cila tribe in second place, winning the other immunity. And while their lives in the game were saved, it was clear that they were highly disappointed that they didn’t win the ultimate reward of getting to spend time with Zac. As a viewer, it was disappointing to see some of the reactions from the Cila tribe, simply because the goal is to be the final survivor, and being unhappy with an immunity win feels counterintuitive. While disappointment makes sense, it was hearing Dee say that coming in second is losing that was frustrating, because at this point in the game, second place is still a safe place to be.

While the reward was certainly impressive, there is a lot more game to be played. And who knows what else Survivor has in store for their players, perhaps there will be another epic reward that will be even more amazing than the Zac Brown fish and concert experience.

Ultimately, this means that Vatu came in third, leaving them back up for elimination at another tribal council. And the chaos that ensued leading up to tribal was exactly what we all expected from this group of people. While everyone is fighting for their lives in the game, it’s clear that some of these players didn’t learn anything from the past. So who went home after that disastrous challenge, chaotic pre-tribal, and tribal council? Sadly it was the end of the road for White Lotus‘ Mike White.
