There is something so enticing about starting a new year and picking up new authors. That’s one of my biggest reading goals for 2025, and Last First Kiss by Julian Winters was an easy one to start with.

If you didn’t know, Winters is an author who has written in multiple genres and age ranges. Personally, I’ve only read Last First Kiss from him, but what a way to start my journey with his titles. It’s also great to see that he’s still currently publishing both books for adults and teen readers.

Before getting into my thoughts, I’d like to thank St. Martin’s for sending me a digital copy so I was able to read and review this one. With that being said, let’s get into my thoughts on Last First Kiss by Julian Winters.

Last First Kiss is a high-stakes romance you won’t be able to put down.

Before sharing my thoughts, it’s worth noting that this book can be read as a standalone after reading I Think They Love You. However, it’s best to read that book before picking this one up, as it spoils the first book completely. If you don’t read it, you’ll just be spoiled, which I was fine with, but I wanted to share a note of caution.

With that out of the way, Last First Kiss follows Jordan, who is getting a chance at planning a high-profile wedding as a chance for him to step up in his career. Things seem great at first until he reunites with Jamie, his former friend and longtime crush. While it’s clear things were unresolved between them, Jordan tries to keep things professional. Even so, his attraction for Jamie does end up being a distracting factor for him.

Julian Winters really dove deep into these characters and made me really care for them. It was incredible to see Jordan put his all into his job, help out his family, and also figure out his own identity. Meanwhile, Jamie was dealing with his family’s expectations and learning what career would be best for him. It felt like reading about two of my friends in the best way.

Despite the romance being a little slower-paced, Last First Kiss was such a fun and fast read that I read it in two sittings. Once things ramped up with the wedding and Jamie and Jordan’s attraction, I couldn’t put this book down. Coupled with the Atlanta setting, this feels like the perfect book to read in spring, with all the talks of weddings and all the fluffy and fun moments between Jordan and Jamie.

If you enjoyed I Think They Love You, I think you’ll be happy with Last First Kiss, and if you just want to pick up Last First Kiss, just prepare to be spoiled. While not my favorite read of 2026 so far, it was a fun one.
