Every month, we’re always getting more and more foodie news. That’s why it’s nice to be able to share some of the biggest and most exciting food news.

Of course, we aren’t able to cover everything especially since it’s the start of October. However, there is going to be plenty more to cover as we get later into the month.

This is going to be a mix of fast food news, restaurants and other items such as candy, drinks and much more. No matter if you’re looking to keep up with your favorite chain or want to get the 411 on some of the biggest food news out there, then you’re in luck as we’re talking about 10 new pieces of foodie news.

If you’ve been a reader of The Tasty Screen, you’ll know that we love Raising Cane’s around here. While we’ve already covered the new Plush Puppy release, we’re here to talk about something related to spooky season. Your favorite chicken chain is offering new glow-in-the-dark cups. These are being released on October 15th according to QSR Magazine. You can grab one for $1.39 if you purchase a combo or with a 32-ounce drink.

Speaking of Halloween, M&M’s decided to drop a new candy just ahead of trick-or-treat season. M&M’s added freeze-dried candies to its lineup with M&M’s Pop’d. These are a freeze-dried version of our favorite caramel M&M’s, perfect for snacking on while watching scary movies or carving a Jack-o-Lantern.

Moving to some savory Halloween news, Babybel is giving all Stranger Things fans something to look forward to. In honor of our return to Hawkins, Babybel is adding a deliciously spicy flavor. Given the fun imagery on the package and the sheer amount of snackability, no doubt these are going to be popular for fans and non-fans alike.

If there’s one thing us foodies get behind, it’s not switching up on a favorite and that’s exactly what’s happening at Chili’s. After years of love and support, Chili’s has taken away our beloved skillet queso and replaced it with southwest queso. Given the intense marketing push we’ve seen, it’s clear Chili’s doesn’t know if consumers are here for it but as Chili’s fans, it’s all going to come down to taste and price.

Moving onto some happier news, Friendly’s is giving us a lot to be excited about. First, Friendly’s is bringing breakfast back, baby. The launch of Friendly’s breakfast menu is full of favorites including delicious pancakes, waffles, breakfast quesadillas, sandwiches and much more.

That’s not all, though. Friendly’s also introduced its “Savor the Season” menu which runs from now until December 31st. With such a limited-time release, it’s best not to wait given the delights they’re cooking up. There are the Harvest Stack, a sandwich full of Thanksgiving goodness, an Angus Beef & Barley Soup and even, a Mocha Magic Sundae. That’s just a tiny peek into Friendly’s new menu but it’s the cozy comfort food we’re all craving.

Moving back to some Halloween news, Eggo added a new Stranger Things-inspired flavor…”its first-ever strawberry red waffle made with colors from natural sources – a bold new take on the classic Eggo waffle, inspired by the eerie rifts to the Upside Down from the Netflix series, Stranger Things.” You can grab these waffles in store this month but they are a limited-edition release. Eggo is also giving away 11,000 boxes via InstaCart with drops happening on October 10th, October 17th and October 24th at 11 am EST.

No matter what time of year it is, sweet treats are always a hit and nothing hits the spot like Graeter’s Ice Cream. Most notably, Graeter’s brought back their Skyline Spice ice cream for a limited time. While I have yet to try this, this one is high on my list because I’m just so curious about how it would taste. If you’re looking for Graeter’s more classic flavors, some other limited edition flavors include cinnamon and pumpkin. The Skyline pack feature 6 pints, 2 of the Skyline Spice, a Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, a Mocha Chocolate Chip, a Pumpkin pint and Toffee Chocolate Chip. No matter what you’re craving, Graeter’s won’t disappoint.

Last but not least, we’re talking about some of the fun foodie finds at Citizens Bank Park for October. Whether you’re a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies or not, there is no denying these items are going to be a homerun for those attending the games.

Pictured above is the Stuffed Turkey Eggroll which can be found at Bull’s BBQ and is described as “Thanksgiving in a bite: turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce rolled and fried, served with warm turkey gravy.” Next up is Pierogi Poutine which you can find at Hatfield Grill in sections 135 and 208 along with 1883 Burger Co. in section 323. If you’re a potato lover, look out, “Mini cheddar pierogies loaded with white cheddar cheese curds, jalapeños, crispy fried onions, and house-made beef short rib gravy.” Sounds heavenly.

The Phillies are also serving up some great drinks including a S’mores Espresso Martini, some seasonal beers and even, a “Color-Changing Beer Bat,” which is “A limited-edition beer bat with a homeplate stand and color-changing surprise when filled. Fill it with draft beer or Red October Punch,” which is such a fun idea.

Lastly, I’d be remiss to not mention the 9 9 9 challenge. This is available at South Philly Market in section 128. The press release says it best, “Each inning brings a taste of the fun, with 1 bite-sized hot dog paired with a mini beer to enjoy as you make your way through all nine innings. It’s the ultimate game-day dish – perfect for fans looking to test their ballpark appetite while cheering on every play.” Sounds like the perfect challenge for those wanting to get their money’s worth.
