There are a lot of chicken chains out there. But KFC is definitely the OG of the fried chicken world. Sadly, even though KFC has been around since 1930 (although it wasn’t actually franchised until 1952), it has struggled to compete with brands like Popeyes and Chick-fil-A.

However, KFC is not going down without a fight. That’s why they are not only bringing back the iconic Colonel Sanders in a way that we have never seen him before, but they are working on refreshing the brand as a whole. And part of this brand refresh also includes the introduction of a limited time menu item that might just become a new fan favorite.

On July 14, KFC introduced their new (and limited edition) Kentucky Fried Pickles. These crunchy, juicy, and downright tangy slices of dill pickles are fried to golden brown perfection in a batter that is perfectly seasoned. We had the chance to try these for ourselves, and honestly we don’t think KFC should take them off the menu any time soon. These are perfect for the fried pickle lovers out there, and we found them to be fried just the way we want them. They also paired perfectly with the Original Recipe chicken, which is always nice because when it comes to classic, fried chicken, this what we are here for.

Of course, this is KFC so it is also all about how they are handling their chicken. And for a limited time, the restaurant chain is offering a special deal online and through their app (did you know that KFC has an app!). Customers can enjoy “a ‘Free Bucket on Us’ with any $15 purchase.” This is an epic deal that is hard to resist.

On top of giving away free chicken, KFC wants to hear from you. They want you to tell them what you think of their chicken. They want you to tell them how they can do better. So once you get that free bucket of chicken, make sure you contact KFC and give them all of your thoughts.

With KFC looking for actual feedback from their customers and going all out with refreshing the brand, this could end up being the biggest comeback in the chicken game. And we are here for it!
