Did you know that July 10 is National Piña Colada Day? Considering we are in the heart of summer at this point, it makes sense that the piña colada would have its own day to shine. After all, the piña colada is a sweet and creamy cocktail that is not only delicious, but also refreshing.

So what goes into making a delicious piña colada? At it’s very core, this is a drink with pineapple and coconut. And of course, the alcohol portion of the show is a rum. When it comes to picking the right rum for a piña colada, we want the very best.

In this case, one of the very best rums that we could choose for a piña colada, especially on National Piña Colada Day, is one of the oldest rums out of Puerto Rico. The Ron del Barrilito Three Stars rum is the perfect choice for someone looking to elevate their piña colada this summer. And just in time for National Piña Colada Day, Ron del Barrilito has created a recipe that will take your summer sipping to a whole new level. This is a simple, yet elegant cocktail.

So what exactly do you need to whip up the perfect piña colada? According to the press email that we received, you will need:

– 2 ounces of Ron del Barrilito Three Stars
– 2 ounces of cream of coconut
– 4 ounces of pineapple juice
– dehydrated pineapple for a garnish (dried pineapple works)

And to whip this one up, it’s as simple as combining all of the ingredients into a shaker, minus the garnish, and shaking it all up. You can pour this over ice, or you could even do it over a shaved ice for a slushy effect. It is highly recommended that you not use a blender for this one, and instead stick to shaking the cocktail.

Even if you don’t have this particular rum on hand for National Piña Colada Day, we highly recommend grabbing a bottle to shake things up this summer.
