Is there anything quite as good as a bowl of hot mac and cheese on a cold winter day? Probably not. But honestly, there is never a bad time to enjoy mac and cheese. And there are certainly some brands that really understand how to make this iconic dish.

Stouffer’s has long been a go-to brand for many of us when it comes to frozen meals. Not only that, but for many of us, their frozen mac and cheese is downright iconic.

But did you know that they have expanded their offerings outside of the freezer section of the grocery store? We didn’t either!

While doing a grocery shop that included picking up some boxes of Velveeta Mac and Cheese to have on hand, we came across a display featuring Stouffer’s Mac and Cheese for the pantry! And it was available in two different varieties.

Not only were they offering Stouffer’s Supreme Mac and Cheese in a Three Cheese flavor, but there was also a classic Cheddar Cheese option as well. And while we didn’t snag the Three Cheese, we had to grab a box of the Cheddar Cheese.

We needed to know if it was worth trading in our frozen Stouffer’s Mac and Cheese for this pantry stable offering. And it turns out that it is (and it isn’t).

There is something so satisfying about the classic Stouffer’s Mac and Cheese from the freezer section. And when you get the family size and have to bake it in the oven, it is true perfection.

That is not to say that the boxed mac and cheese from Stouffer’s wasn’t good. It absolutely was a delicious bowl of mac and cheese, but it simply wasn’t the same as the frozen in terms of the flavors. Instead, I would compare it the Velveeta I had already grabbed from the store.

I would not replace the frozen Stouffer’s Mac and Cheese with their boxed mac and cheese, but I would happily grab this mac and cheese to have on hand when I want to enjoy a warm bowl of cheesy goodness.

Stouffer’s understands flavor and quality. And their boxed mac and cheese is no exception. This was a tasty meal and one I would do again, but there is no denying that their frozen meals are a step above the rest.
